Who we are
Export Mentor is a specialist export capacity-building practice helping small and medium-sized enterprises in developing and transition economies access the European market. We design and deliver practical training, mentoring, and market-access advisory for agrifood and consumer-goods exporters — working directly with companies, and at scale through programs run by international development organizations.
The practice was founded by János Botka, a market access and export development advisor who serves as an agrifood value chain expert on programs run by UN agencies in developing countries. Export Mentor's methodology has been applied in export readiness programs for SMEs in Iraq, Trinidad and Tobago, and Odisha (India), among others.
Our approach
We believe export capability is built, not just taught. Our programs combine structured e-learning with hands-on mentoring: participants work on their own products, their own compliance gaps, and their own buyer conversations, so every module produces something usable — a market entry plan, a compliant label, a first trade-fair pitch. We focus on what matters most for entering the EU market: food safety and compliance, packaging and labelling, buyer expectations, and the practical realities of a first export shipment.
Export Mentor partners with development agencies, export promotion organizations, and chambers of commerce to deliver these programs at scale, and works one-on-one with companies that want individual support.
